The Bunny Family.

Once when I logged into the jean green Howe website to look for the knitting booklets and when I saw this beautiful family and the way jean has set up the background I could not resist, I wanted to buy this book  called 'Toy collection ' . I fell in love with this beautiful family and wanted to make this just the way it is in the book. This is the original picture from the book.

At least I tried to ape jean as much as possible. And this is my work , I cannot at any cost beat the original but I tried :)

The background was made few days back with a folder and this background has appeared in Mrs. Flora and her house. I have written in detail about the living room project in my blog post Mrs. Flora and her house. The futon on which daddy bunny is sleeping was also made when I created the living room. Below is the picture on which daddy bunny is relaxing.

The mummy bunny is busy making a pattern for her new dress.
I used an empty honey bottle for the mannequin . The measuring tape is made out of the ribbon and used a fabric marker to mark the numbers. An empty dish washing liquid bottle might have been quite suitable for a mannequin , but unfortunately I did not have an empty bottle. I just threw some simplicity  pattern that i have on the floor and also a pair of  scissors and some ball pins. The floor is a decorative paper which resembles a wooden floor. The trunk which consists of fabric is a wooden box that one of my friends had gifted me long ago.
I had a miniature version of Bhagavathgeetha a holy book for Hindus which is made to look like a novel that daddy bunny was reading and now he is just relaxing .
The little bunny is playing with her tiny tea set and she is offering some tea to daddy bunny.
Over all I had a great time working on this project. I love jean and her work. She is my role model and love to become like her one day. I wish I had her brains but I am happy that at least I can work on the patterns that she has created.....
I would love to redo this scene if I can find a better way to do this scene.

The silk cat family

Recently I had to purchase some pillows for my home and I had been to a store called Home goods , there my attention was caught on these tiny little dolls. I just could not resist so I picked them and put them in my shopping cart .

Next I made a kitchen and dining set out of my furniture puzzle set that I had purchased in Davis from a store called paint chip.

The good thing about this  puzzle is its easy to make, even though it was quite tricky to put the pieces together for the kitchen counter , good exercise for your brain , perfect size for the doll houses ,it is not just a floor puzzle, it can be made as and when needed or we can glue them to make it permanent . Paint can be applied if desired, easy to store . However, we should take heed not to lose any pieces from the puzzle . I used my miniature polymer clay tea set  that I had made recently, to decorate their kitchen which is a perfect size for these little ones .For the background and for the floor I have used a decorative paper which resembles the wood .  I love when animals are made to look like humans .

The picture below is the inspiration .

One of my dearest friends has gifted me one of these furniture puzzle kits . The kit consists of bed room and a nursery set , next I will be trying those.
Till then good bye and thanks for visiting my blog :) .

Sense and sensibility

Sense and sensibility...

Greetings friends,

I am a great fan of classic English novels and presently reading Jane Austin's  ' Sense and Sensibility ' . I just have some 50 pages to finish and certainly I loved the book. I just thought of introducing the main characters of the story through my dolls. Fortunately I have some dolls which can suit the characters of this story.  I had made these dolls few months back from jean green Howe patterns . When ever I can tell a tale using my dolls I love that . I would certainly love to give an opportunity for my dolls to act in as many stories as possible.

This is Mrs. Dashwood

A noble and a good hearted lady. Even though her husband did not leave enough money for her, he has left her all the china, plate and Linen in her possession. Since her daughter -in-law Fanny did not get any of these handsome china ,she is quite angry and jealous of this valuable legacy that her mother-in-law has possessed. She thought some of the plate would have been a very pleasant addition to her own stock.

Her eldest daughter Elinor .

A great artist who paints beautifully , whose advice was so effectual , she had an excellent heart and her feelings were strong , but she knew how to govern them. It was a knowledge that  her mother had yet to learn.

Her second daughter Marianne .

Her abilities were,in many respects quite equal to Elinor's . She was sensible and clever but eager in everything , her joys, her sorrows, could have no moderation. She was gorgeous, interesting, amiable and very good at playing pianoforte.

Margret , the other sister .

was a good  humoured  , well disposed girl. The book does not talk much about the youngest daughter . The focus is all about Elinor and Marianne.

Those of you who love reading classic books , I strongly recommend this book. Even-though being an Indian , and having been experienced a rich Indian culture and tradition, I still love some of the English culture like afternoon tea parties, dinner parties, high society life style, English cottages , their gardens, dovecotes  , their love for literature, music, arts and crafts , victorian era costumes etc.whenever I read about these things I get fascinated about English life style.
Well I guess I will be having a Jane Austin marathon since, I will be reading Pride and Prejudice next.
Until next time good bye,
Revathi....

Estate sale

Greetings,

I just recently went to an estate sale. I have never attended an estate sale before. Since I have moved to a different place and I did not carry any of my furniture I thought of going to this sale so that I could buy some furniture or anything of that sort. When I went there everything was way outta my league. Antique looking furniture which was in a very good condition and way too expensive. A ten chairs dining table for $7000 may be I can never afford that :) but it was a good experience indeed. Where ever I see antiques my eyes will always be searching for miniatures and for dolls . At last there was something which I could afford . A crystal birthday cake on a brass tray and a porcelain music box. Both were priced at $3 each but , there was 50% off :) so ended up paying $3 including both. This was indeed a great deal.

I will surely go to one of these sales again next time to enjoy this experience again .

Talking of antiques, I had bought some brass miniature utensils few months back in Davis from an antique store, which I wanted to share from a long time but kept forgetting. Finally sharing the picture of these beautiful utensils.

An ice bucket consists on tiny ice crystals inside the bucket. A kettle , pot, pan and spoon, fork and spatulas . I really miss Davis, I love going to goodwill stores, thrift stores and antique stores and I have never seen one so far here in Dallas .

Polly ..

Greeting friends,

Everybody will experience the pain of parting from their friends at times and my dear dear sweetheart Kate  also experienced this pain for a while,  but now her wait is over. Her dearest friend poly is ready and is very excited to meet her best friend Kate.

I had knitted Kate few weeks back and I was on a verge of moving so could not knit Polly immediately after Kate, now that I have moved and kind of settled in my new home I decided to finish Polly as soon as possible. Kate is so happy to meet Polly. What a happy reunion .

Now Polly and Kate has lot of things to catch up with and I am pretty sure that they will sit and chat the whole day :)

Now I will leave these two alone , so that they can catch up with each other and goodbye to everyone until next time :)
