Match box Mum and baby.

Greetings,
I had collected a few empty match boxes and was wondering what to make out of them and I got this idea.  This was actually inspired  by a project that I saw in one of the craft books in a book store. They had made a mother and a baby out of walnut shells. It was a very simple, cute and a clever project!
Here is what I came up with....
I have used match box for the body of the mother and for the cradle. It is always fun to use lace and ribbons while making dolls. I am a big fan of Victorian era and I try to make Victorian Mum. I love the hat of the mother and the entire outcome of the dolls..... Hope you like it too!
Will be back soon with my next project, until then, Happy Crafting!

Diwali at work.

Greetings,
We had Diwali celebrations at work and I took an initiative to make the rangoli and also I was in the decorations team and helped the team in decorating our floor. The best decorated team was going to get an award. My friend and I were really hopeful of getting the award but unfortunately the sixth floor people won the award, although the judge did announce that the ground floor decorations were awesome! We belong to ground floor.
Even though, we didn't win any awards, all the ladies had a lot of fun in decorating, creating rangoli etc. I don't want men to be left out, some guys really helped us with the decorations and shopping!
Here are some of the pictures of the rangoli.... I did not want to create a traditional rangoli, so I selected this unique design, a boy and a girl in festive Indian costume giving Diwali wishes.

This is my new saree that my mother gave for Diwali, I was quite exited to wear it!
My friend Amritha worked quite hard with me, here is the picture of us together.
My other co-workers helped me as well. Thanks to Poonam and Devi!
Overall, it was quite fun! We are not allowed to take pictures inside the production floor, so no pictures of the decorations of our floor :(
I wanted to make a Diwali themed Dolls, so, I came up with this idea. A little girl celebrating Diwali with her Mum and Dad and whole family dressed in a traditional and festive Indian outfits!

Our HR department announced about this competition only three days before and I only had two days to finish these dolls. With my busy schedule, I was still able to finish these dolls! Overall this Diwali event was quite fun and festive!
Last but not the least, Happy and prosperous Diwali to all of you!

Doll making work shop

Greetings,
We had a doll making work shop today, at Akruthi book store in Rajajinagar. We had 7 people for the workshop, 5 kids and 2 adults. Kids were all accompanied by their mothers and both mothers and daughters had a great time!
We made a doll based on a nursery rhyme Bo-Peep!
Below are the pictures of the kids who are engaged in doll making.

Mothers were quite enthusiastic and supportive to their kids! Because of the interest and the enthusiasm of the kids and their mums we were able to finish the dolls and made this event successful!

It was a wonderful experience, and looking forward to conduct more work shops in the near future! Thanks, to all those people who attended my work shop and many, many thanks to Shubha who organized this event!
I am quite happy, to see Anagha's doll. Her Bo-Peep had a makeover and the doll went shopping, below are the pics her mother sent us. She wanted me to share these pics!

I will be back again with my next post.
Until then, Happy Crafting!

Friendship's a noble name......

Greetings,
This weekend, I finished another watercolor, from Mary Engelbert's book 'words for friends to live by'.
I am quite happy with the painting. I just gave different effects to the picture. Below is the effect of the rain.

Then I tried a black and white effect.
I will be back with my next project!
Until then, happy Crafting!
