Victorian man.

Greetings!

I want to take doll house and miniatures seriously. I am right now working on some miniature projects and here is a miniature doll suitable for 1:12 scale doll houses. This is a Victorian style doll dressed in a tail coat and a top hat. tailcoat is a coat with the front of the skirt cut away, so as to leave only the rear section of the skirt, known as the tails. The historical reason coats were cut this way was to make it easier for the wearer to ride a horse, but over the years tailcoats of varying types have evolved into forms of formal dress for both day and evening wear. I love period style miniature projects.

The pattern to knit this doll can be found on www.bitstobuy.com. There are free patterns to make the entire family which includes mummy, daddy and two children. But there are no patterns for clothes. I made the doll and for clothes I used Fiona Goble's patterns.
This is the picture from the back view.

I also placed the doll inside a doll house, to show how the doll looks from inside a doll house.I made this doll house out of cardboard box. You can find the details about the doll house by clicking this link. http://revathiakshay.blogspot.com/2014/03/cardboard-box-doll-house.html
I have also made some scenes in the doll house you can see this link, http://revathiakshay.blogspot.com/2014/03/scenes-from-doll-house.html

I should still finish the rest of the family!

Till then,
You stay classy craft world!

Very nice! My chubby fingers could not do something that small!

Thanks everyone, I used zero knitting needles and two ply yarn. It was quite fun.

Waiting for his family! Do you use tiny, tiny, needles? My friend made mittens on toothpicks for years, we all have received them as decorations for the tree! Then she switched to long darning needles. He is so fashionable!

Oh toothpicks, that must have been quite challenging to knit. I use 2mm size zero knitting needles. This is the first time I have knitted in such small needles . Thanks for waiting, even I can't wait to finish the entire family
